After you have passed the online exam, you will be able to generate and print your certificate and we can send your certificate out to you in the mail.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are online courses as good as live courses?
We think they're better. Our courses are not just lectures, books, or videos. They are not just PDF files that you read online and take a quiz online. The courses are all interactive so you are constantly involved in the learning process. You are continually clicking links to use flashcards, change pages, start video clips, and take quizzes. The Professional Home Inspection Institute's interactive learning method has proven to be a very effective tool in training thousands of inspectors in the home inspection, mold inspection, radon measurement, and pest inspection industries.

What if I have a question about something while I'm taking the course?
If you have a question about something as you're taking the course, there is a built-in "?" button on every page of the course. This allows you to instantly email in a question and get a response within 24 hours. You can also call our toll-free number and get live support over the phone. We are in the office 12 hours a day and can help with technical questions or course-related questions as you are taking the course to become certified. We can even answer questions you might have after you complete the course and are out in the field inspecting!

What if I don't own an infrared camera?
You don't need to have an infrared camera to take this course. The course covers the concepts of infrared thermography and will definitely educate you about infrared technology which will be very useful if you decide to purchase an infrared camera sometime in the future. The course will also educate you about options for infrared camera rentals or leases and arrangements with some infrared camera distributors who will give you special discounts as a graduate of the Professional Home Inspection Institute: Infrared Insulation Inspection & Remediation Course. The concepts learned in this course can be applied to improve insulation and energy efficiency in a home regardless of what technology is used to find the problems. (Did you know: An infrared thermometer can be used to detect some insulation problems when thermal concepts are applied properly.)

The courses have the following hour ratings but they are all self paced so you can go through each course as quickly or as slowly as you'd like and spend as much or as little time reviewing each lesson as you choose. You can always go back and review the lessons even after you have passed that lesson.

ASNT Level 1 course = 60 hours
IR Moisture Survey = 24 hours
IR Energy Loss Survey = 32 hours
